Xefco is an Australian deep tech startup focused on developing innovative textile and coating technologies that aim to reduce the environmental impact of textile manufacturing. Founded in 2018 by Tom Hussey and Brian Conolly, the company operates from Deakin University's ManuFutures hub in Geelong, New South Wales. Xefco's mission is to help brands and manufacturers minimize their environmental footprint while maintaining the functionality of textiles. The company has created two primary patented products: Ausora and XReflex. Ausora is an advanced plasma coating system that applies color and functional finishes to textiles, achieving significant water, energy, and chemical savings compared to traditional methods. XReflex is a barrier textile technology designed to enhance the thermal efficiency of insulated clothing. Xefco collaborates with major global brands, including Zara and The North Face, and has secured partnerships with leading apparel manufacturers to further its innovative solutions.
