Guide Therapeutics was a biotechnology company founded in 2018 and based in Tucker, Georgia. The company specialized in developing nanoparticles for precision drug delivery, with a strong focus on gene therapy. It employed a technique called DNA barcoding to identify and test thousands of nanoparticles simultaneously, aiming to enhance the delivery of genetic therapies to various organs and tissues. The company primarily developed nonviral drug delivery vehicles for genetic medicines, utilizing its innovative approach to rapidly screen and identify effective lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). This method allowed Guide Therapeutics to conduct extensive experiments, testing up to 150,000 nanoparticles annually, which accelerated the discovery of promising leads for gene therapy. In February 2021, Guide Therapeutics was acquired by Beam Therapeutics, a company known for its work in precision genetic medicines. This acquisition expanded Beam Therapeutics' capabilities in delivering genetic medicines to a wider range of tissues and diseases.
