About

The Captain Planet Foundation (CPF) is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering young people to tackle environmental challenges. Founded in 1991 by Ted Turner and Barbara Pyle, CPF became an independent public charity in 2002. The foundation's mission is to engage youth in critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship, promoting collaboration and optimism. CPF operates as both a grant-making and programmatic foundation, funding over 3,300 hands-on environmental education projects that have reached more than 11.5 million children worldwide. Key initiatives include Project Learning Garden, which creates outdoor classrooms in schools, and the Planeteer Alliance, which fosters community among young environmental advocates. CPF also offers eco-friendly merchandise to promote sustainability. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, CPF targets schools and nonprofits that serve children, aiming to benefit youth across all 50 U.S. states and 35 countries. The foundation is recognized for its commitment to community inclusion and empowering the next generation of global citizens.
