About Youth Internet Governance Forum Canada
Youth Internet Governance Forum Canada (Youth IGF Canada) is a youth-led initiative established in 2024, recognized as Canada's National/Regional Initiative for youth engagement in Internet governance. It is affiliated with the United Nations Global IGF and aims to build the next generation of Canadian Internet leaders by ensuring youth representation in both national and international discussions.
The core mission of Youth IGF Canada is to advocate for Canadian youth in Internet governance through data collection, report writing, and promoting access to a trustworthy Internet. The organization connects young stakeholders via events and an open listserv, facilitating participation in global policymaking. It hosts annual meetings, including the inaugural Canada Youth IGF in September 2024, focusing on key challenges in Internet governance and providing opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing. Youth IGF Canada collaborates with the Canadian IGF and other organizations to enhance youth involvement in policy and strengthen the multistakeholder Internet ecosystem.
