Woodfibre LNG is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility located near Squamish, British Columbia. Operated by Woodfibre Management Ltd, the facility is a significant investment of $5.1 billion and aims to be the world's first net zero LNG export facility. It is designed to produce 2.1 million tonnes of LNG annually and has a 40-year export license. The facility features a single-train liquefaction module powered by electric compressors, utilizing renewable hydroelectricity. This innovative approach results in one of the lowest emissions profiles in the industry. Woodfibre LNG has established a partnership with BP, securing agreements for the purchase of LNG. The company also emphasizes its commitment to Indigenous partnership, recognizing the Squamish Nation as a full environmental regulator and prioritizing local hiring and procurement.
