About Texture by Next Issue
Texture was a digital magazine subscription service that provided unlimited access to a vast library of magazines. Launched in 2010 as Next Issue Media and rebranded in 2015, it offered subscribers access to around 160 magazines and approximately 15,000 back issues, totaling over 500,000 stories. The service featured curated collections, trending stories, and a user-friendly digital interface, available on various platforms including iOS, Android, Kindle Fire HD, and Windows devices.
Texture was often called the "Netflix of magazine publishing" due to its all-you-can-read model. In 2015, it generated $15 million in subscription revenue for publishers. Apple acquired Texture in 2018, and the service was discontinued in May 2019, leading to the launch of Apple News+ as a replacement.
