About SFCASA
San Francisco CASA (SFCASA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 that advocates for abused, neglected, and displaced children and youth in San Francisco's foster care and juvenile justice systems. As a community-based organization, SFCASA operates under the Judicial Council of California and is part of the National CASA Association. Its mission is to provide court-appointed volunteer advocates to ensure foster youth have access to resources, stable relationships, and opportunities for success. SFCASA trains and supervises Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who serve as mentors and officers of the court for foster youth. These volunteers advocate for safe, permanent homes, address urgent needs like education and healthcare, and provide consistent support as stable adult figures in the lives of youth. The organization serves cases referred by local courts and agencies, focusing on children who lack reliable adult support. SFCASA is located at 2535 Mission Street, San Francisco, and relies on community donations to fund its initiatives.
