Oort is a Boston-based startup that specializes in identity threat detection and response (ITDR) technology. Founded in 2019, Oort focuses on enhancing enterprise security by addressing vulnerabilities in identity and access management (IAM) systems. The company's software platform acts as an "antivirus" for IAM systems, providing features such as identity visibility, misconfiguration detection, predictive analytics, and remediation support. Oort's platform is API-driven, cloud-native, and agentless, making it adaptable for various data sources. It helps organizations gain a comprehensive view of their identity landscape, identify excessive access permissions, and proactively prevent identity-based attacks. In July 2023, Oort was acquired by Cisco, integrating its technology into Cisco's cybersecurity portfolio to enhance IAM security and extended detection and response capabilities. Prior to the acquisition, Oort raised $15 million in funding, with Cisco participating as a strategic investor.
