About North American Interfraternity Conference
The North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) is a trade association that represents 73 international and national men’s social fraternities in the U.S. and Canada. Founded in 1909 and formally organized in 1910, the NIC serves as a collective voice for its member organizations, advocating for fraternity interests and fostering partnerships with educational institutions. It is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The NIC focuses on advocacy, public relations, and collaboration with universities to enhance the fraternity experience and support student retention. It lobbies for legislative priorities, promotes fraternity values to high school students, and collaborates with over 800 campuses to integrate fraternity life into institutional missions. The organization also maintains historical records and provides educational resources, policy frameworks, and best practices for member fraternities, addressing issues such as hazing prevention and alcohol safety.
