EcoHealth Alliance is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting people, animals, and the environment from emerging infectious diseases. Founded in 1971 and originally known as the Wildlife Trust, it merged with the Consortium for Conservation Medicine in 2010. The organization promotes the "One Health" concept, which highlights the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. The organization focuses on scientific research to prevent pandemics and promote conservation. It studies diseases linked to deforestation and human-wildlife interaction, such as SARS, Ebola, and COVID-19. EcoHealth Alliance employs an interdisciplinary team of experts, including molecular biologists and veterinarians, to strengthen health systems globally and locally. It collaborates with major institutions like the CDC, WHO, and the World Bank, tailoring its programs to address local needs in 32 countries.
