Assemble, a community space for arts + technology
About
Assemble is a nonprofit community space located in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood, dedicated to arts and technology education since 2011. It serves as a hub for artists, technologists, makers, and learners, promoting creativity through hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities. The organization offers a variety of programs, including afterschool sessions for grades 1–9, free Saturday Crafternoons for children ages 5–11, and monthly gallery exhibitions featuring local artists. Assemble also hosts community workshops for both youth and adults, covering topics like solar energy, coding, and creative technology. Its mission focuses on creating community-driven learning opportunities that make STEAM education accessible to all. Many of its programs are free or low-cost, supported by community donations and grants.
