About

The API Innovation Center (APIIC) is a nonprofit organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. Its mission is to reshore the production of U.S.-made Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) to enhance national health security and improve the healthcare supply chain. APIIC fosters collaboration among companies, academic institutions, and startups to drive innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing. APIIC focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques, such as continuous flow manufacturing, to produce high-quality APIs domestically. The organization is committed to workforce development and job creation in the St. Louis region. It has received significant funding, including a $14 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to support its initiatives. One of APIIC's key projects is the Lomustine Project, which aims to establish the first U.S. source of lomustine, a critical chemotherapy API. This project is a collaboration with Continuity Pharma and the Glioblastoma Foundation, addressing the supply crisis of this essential medicine. APIIC also engages in advocacy and hosts events to promote the reshoring of pharmaceutical production in the U.S.
