Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems
About
The Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems (VCRWS) is an interdisciplinary research center at Villanova University dedicated to addressing global water challenges. With over 20 years of experience in stormwater research, the center focuses on developing resilient solutions through engineering research in environmental, geotechnical, and water resources fields. VCRWS manages 14 grants from various funding sources and collaborates with six faculty members across three research-intensive laboratories. VCRWS emphasizes sustainable stormwater management practices, particularly through green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) like rain gardens and green roofs. The center conducts applied research and monitoring of stormwater control measures, including constructed wetlands and bio infiltration systems. It also hosts the Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership, which promotes effective stormwater solutions and organizes the biennial Pennsylvania Stormwater Management Symposium, attracting professionals from various sectors. The center serves municipalities, environmental agencies, academic communities, and private sector partners, contributing to improved water quality and urban resilience.
