About Trusted Computing Group
The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is a not-for-profit organization focused on developing and promoting open, vendor-neutral standards for trusted computing technologies. Established in 2003 by a coalition of major companies, including AMD, IBM, and Microsoft, TCG aims to enhance security across various computing platforms and devices. TCG's mission centers on creating a trusted computing environment through specifications for technologies such as the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Trusted Network Communications (TNC), and self-encrypting drives (SEDs). These technologies provide essential security features like hardware-based trust, network access control, and automatic data encryption. TCG has developed over 90 specifications to support the creation of secure computing environments, which are widely adopted across sectors including enterprise systems and government agencies. The organization also hosts events and provides resources to promote advancements in trusted computing technologies.
