TokBox was a San Francisco-based company that provided programmable video APIs using WebRTC technology. Founded in 2007, it became a leader in the field, enabling developers to integrate high-quality live video into websites and mobile applications. Its technology was utilized in over 1,700 Android and iOS apps across various sectors, including online education, telemedicine, and social media.

In 2018, TokBox was acquired by Vonage for $35 million, enhancing Vonage's communications platform by adding video capabilities to its existing voice, SMS, and IP messaging services. Before the acquisition, TokBox had over 2,300 global customers and raised $26 million in funding. Its platform was known for its simplicity and scalability, making it easier for businesses to build customer engagement tools through programmable communications.
