About Social Innovation Canada
Social Innovation Canada (SI Canada) is a national charitable organization dedicated to enhancing social innovation across Canada. It connects practitioners, builds sector capacity, and strengthens the social innovation ecosystem to address complex challenges. Founded in 2019, SI Canada aims to empower individuals and organizations with the tools and knowledge needed to tackle real-world problems collaboratively.
The organization operates through a national secretariat and regional nodes led by "weavers" who facilitate gatherings and learning events. SI Canada's activities focus on aligning the social innovation ecosystem, supporting networks of innovators, and building capacity through connections and infrastructure. It plays a key role in government initiatives, including the federal Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy, and has received funding from the McConnell Foundation to support community-led initiatives.
