About NCIAF
The National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture and Food (NCIAF) is an Indigenous-led, non-profit organization focused on promoting reconciliation within Canada's agriculture and food sector. Established with support from Farm Credit Canada, the NCIAF aims to empower Indigenous communities to reclaim food sovereignty and develop sustainable businesses. The organization was ceremonially launched at the First Nations University of Canada and has been actively operating since early 2024.
NCIAF's mission centers on strengthening food security and fostering connections between Indigenous communities, the agriculture industry, and government entities. It operates under three strategic pillars: advancing reconciliation, supporting business development, and enhancing knowledge and collaboration. The organization engages with Indigenous communities across Canada, providing free services to support agricultural development and facilitating partnerships to enhance Indigenous participation in the food sector. Notable initiatives include supporting Indigenous-led farms, craft breweries, and bison reintroduction projects. Headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan, the NCIAF serves Indigenous Peoples and collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve its goals.
