About Micrium Inc.

Micrium Inc. is a developer of real-time operating system (RTOS) software, focusing on the Internet-of-Things (IoT) market. Founded in 1999 by Jean J. Labrosse, the company specializes in solutions for microprocessors, microcontrollers, and digital signal processors (DSPs). Micrium's products cater to various embedded sectors, including medical electronics, avionics, and industrial control systems. The flagship product, the µC/OS RTOS family, includes versions like µC/OS-II and µC/OS-III, known for their portability and efficiency. These solutions meet stringent safety-critical standards, ensuring reliability in demanding environments. After being acquired by Silicon Laboratories in 2016, Micrium's RTOS was released as open-source, promoting wider adoption. Former employees, including Labrosse, continue to provide consultancy and support for both µC/OS and Cesium RTOS, a proprietary version developed post-acquisition.
