Métis Crossing
About Métis Crossing
Métis Crossing is Alberta's first major Métis cultural destination, located on a 688-acre site along the North Saskatchewan River. Established in 2001 and opened in 2005, it is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Métis heritage through regenerative tourism and cultural programming. The site honors the Métis Nation, reflecting their traditions and contemporary identity through land-based teachings, stories from Elders, and various cultural activities.
Visitors can engage in immersive experiences such as trapper walks, canoeing, and guided tours, as well as enjoy luxury accommodations like Sky Watching Domes. The culinary offerings focus on Indigenous cuisine, utilizing locally grown ingredients. Métis Crossing also features a wildlife park, heritage exhibits, and a Cultural Gathering Centre that hosts events like weddings, corporate retreats, and music festivals. With a commitment to Indigenous-led development, it has gained recognition and supports year-round tourism growth.
