About iUrban Teen
iUrban Teen is a nationally recognized program that provides career-focused education to underrepresented teens aged 13 to 18. Founded in October 2011 by Deena Pierott, the organization aims to create equitable education systems for youth historically excluded from STEM careers. Operating in states like Washington, Oregon, California, and Texas, iUrban Teen focuses on African American, Latino, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander communities while being inclusive of all youth. The organization offers a range of services and programs designed to empower youth through hands-on experiences. These include education in STEM fields combined with Creative Arts, mentorship and internship opportunities, and collaborative learning models. iUrban Teen also helps create career pathways for historically excluded youth, promoting economic equity. Their iMusic Program allows participants to explore careers in TV, film production, and theater arts.
