The IU Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI) is a research and community engagement hub at Indiana University dedicated to enhancing climate resilience and sustainability in Indiana and the Midwest. ERI focuses on co-creating environmental resilience through integrated research, education, and partnerships with local governments, businesses, educators, and residents. The institute emphasizes actionable solutions to climate challenges. ERI offers several programs, including the McKinney Midwest Climate Project, which supports sustainable practices through fellowships and community partnerships. The Resilience Cohort Program guides Indiana communities in developing climate resilience strategies, while the Environmental Resilience Toolkit provides resources for local governments to implement climate-resilient services. ERI also develops tailored Community Climate Action Plans, Tree Canopy Assessment Tools, and training modules for greenhouse gas accounting. Its initiatives serve local governments, businesses, nonprofits, educators, and residents across all 92 Indiana counties, promoting equitable climate solutions.
