About Internationally Trained Physicians of Ontario
Internationally Trained Physicians of Ontario (ITPO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting internationally trained physicians (ITPs) in Canada. With over 2,700 members from 45 countries, ITPO provides resources, advocacy, and community support to help ITPs navigate the complexities of training, licensure, and practice within the Canadian healthcare system.
ITPO focuses on addressing systemic barriers that ITPs face, particularly in licensure and workforce integration. The organization advocates for policy changes to improve licensure pathways and conducts research to highlight the skills and experiences of ITPs. Key activities include publishing research on healthcare topics, celebrating member achievements, and issuing policy briefs aimed at reforming the licensure process. ITPO also offers networking opportunities and community support to assist members in their professional journeys.
