About Indigenous Tourism Alberta
Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) is an Indigenous-led, non-profit organization established in 2018. Based in Edmonton, with additional offices in Calgary and Fort McMurray, ITA focuses on promoting authentic and sustainable Indigenous tourism experiences across Alberta's four regions. The organization serves as a unified voice for Indigenous tourism, fostering economic development and community engagement while sharing Indigenous cultures with local and international visitors.
ITA operates on four key pillars: marketing, community building, partnerships, and leadership. It provides support to Indigenous tourism operators through economic development advisory services, business coaching, and workshops. The organization also facilitates international marketing efforts and helps members develop market-ready tourism experiences, including cultural immersions, trails, and tours. ITA is committed to enhancing the economic viability of Indigenous communities and nurturing partnerships within the tourism sector.
