IAAPS, or the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems, is a leading center focused on advancing clean and efficient zero-carbon propulsion technologies for the transport industry. As a commercial subsidiary of the University of Bath, IAAPS combines academic knowledge with a commercial approach to drive engineering innovation. The organization is located at the Bristol and Bath Science Park and has a strong foundation built on 40 years of research from the University of Bath's Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre. The facility spans 11,300 m² and includes state-of-the-art research capabilities such as high transient engine and chassis dynamometers, combustion research laboratories, and specialized test cells for battery development. IAAPS offers a range of research services in areas like propulsion technologies, engineering processes, and sustainable mobility innovation. It collaborates with various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and marine, and is committed to addressing skills gaps through educational programs in automotive engineering.
