Gridless

Gridless is a Bitcoin mining company founded in August 2022, with its headquarters in the United States and operations in rural Kenya, Malawi, and Zambia. The company partners with renewable energy generators in Africa to utilize excess energy, stabilize grids, and promote electrification. By doing so, Gridless aims to make mini-grids financially viable for independent power producers while decentralizing the Bitcoin network.

The company designs, builds, and operates Bitcoin mining sites alongside small-scale renewable energy producers. It prioritizes community needs by ensuring that electricity first supports local electrification and other essential services before powering mining operations. Gridless employs a real-time optimization system, Gridless OS, to manage mining activities based on community energy usage. With a focus on expanding its impact, Gridless has initiated pilot projects in rural Kenya and plans to grow its operations across East Africa. The company is also a founding member of the Green Africa Mining Alliance, which supports knowledge sharing and new miners in the region.
