About

Dell EMC ScaleIO, now known as PowerFlex, is a software-defined storage solution developed by Dell Technologies. It transforms server-based storage into a shared block storage infrastructure, allowing for efficient management of local storage resources across a server cluster. Originally founded in 2011 and acquired by EMC Corporation in 2013, the product has undergone several rebranding phases, culminating in its current name in 2020. PowerFlex aggregates various storage types, including HDDs, SSDs, and PCIe Flash cards, into a unified pool. It features a two-copy mesh mirroring architecture, parallel I/O for workload distribution, and supports both virtualized and non-virtualized environments. The solution is available in multiple deployment models, including software-only options, pre-configured nodes, hyper-converged infrastructure, and dedicated storage setups. It is optimized for high-performance databases, enterprise applications, and cloud environments, providing elasticity, cost efficiency, and robust data protection.
