Construct GTA, operated as Construct by Blue Door, is a social enterprise program dedicated to providing rapid skills training in construction trades for vulnerable jobseekers in southern Ontario. The program focuses on individuals facing barriers to employment, such as homelessness or low income, primarily in the York, Durham, and Peel Regions. With a training center located in Aurora, Ontario, Construct aims to meet the demand for skilled workers in the construction industry while helping participants secure stable, higher-income jobs. The core offering is an intensive 8-week training program that includes in-class instruction, on-the-job experience, and personalized support. Participants receive training in trades mathematics, social skills, and health & safety certifications, along with one-on-one guidance during and after the program. Graduates benefit from an impressive 80% employment rate within six months. The program also provides wages, stipends for food and transportation, and access to psychotherapy, ensuring a comprehensive approach to support jobseekers in transitioning to sustainable careers in construction.
