About

CleanJoule is a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in 2009, the company focuses on developing and producing carbon-neutral aviation fuels and related products derived from biomass feedstocks. CleanJoule's primary offerings include CycloSAF™, a high-performance sustainable aviation fuel, and SpaceSAF™, a drop-in replacement for Rocket Propellant-1 used in aerospace applications. The company also produces carbon-negative bio-polymers aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CleanJoule employs a feedstock-flexible fermentation and catalysis approach, allowing for the processing of various agricultural and forestry residues. This method supports domestic production and supply chain resiliency. The company has established partnerships with major airlines, including Frontier Airlines, Volaris, and Wizz Airlines, which have committed to purchasing significant volumes of its fuels. CleanJoule is actively working towards full-scale commercial manufacturing operations by 2029 and has recently entered the ASTM International certification process for its products.
