About

CergenX is an Irish neurotech company founded in 2021, emerging from the University College Cork's INFANT Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research. The company focuses on AI-powered neonatal brain health monitoring, aiming to provide advanced brain assessment technology to clinicians caring for newborns. CergenX is backed by Enterprise Ireland and currently employs eleven staff at its headquarters in Cork. The flagship product, CergenX Wave, is an FDA Breakthrough Designated medical device that utilizes AI to assess newborn brain function. It features a two-channel EEG device that allows for rapid assessments within a 15-minute window. The automated AI analysis can detect abnormal EEG activity and identify newborns at risk of neonatal encephalopathy, all without requiring specialist training. CergenX Wave aims to enhance clinical decision-making through non-invasive monitoring and real-time capabilities. The company has received significant funding to support its growth and plans to launch the device in 2025, targeting hospitals and healthcare settings that care for newborns.
