VARLab, or the Virtual and Augmented Reality Lab, is an applied research lab located at Conestoga College in Waterloo, Ontario. Established in 2018, it focuses on creating digital learning simulations that prioritize pedagogy, particularly in the fields of trades and health sciences. The lab aims to enhance remote and on-demand education through innovative VR and AR solutions. The lab offers custom VR and AR simulations for various applications, including health and safety training, clinical scenarios, and technical skill development. It combines off-the-shelf tools with custom solutions for efficient deployment. VARLab also supports student learning through immersive simulations and collaborates on applied research projects, primarily serving Conestoga College students and faculty. The lab emphasizes learning outcomes and remote accessibility, allowing learners to practice skills without needing physical campus resources.
