Canadian Support Worker Association (CANSWA)
About
The Canadian Support Workers Association (CANSWA) is a not-for-profit professional association established in 2010. It represents and advances the interests of personal support workers (PSWs) across Canada, uniting over 60,000 verified members. CANSWA is the only professional association of its kind globally, focusing on improving the professional status of support workers through advocacy for training, services, and working conditions. CANSWA offers a range of support services to its members, including professional liability insurance, background checks, specialization courses, and mental health resources. The organization also advocates for safer working conditions and fair compensation, while providing access to top employers in the PSW field. CANSWA operates through regional chapters, including the Ontario Personal Support Workers Association, and collaborates with various PSW employers and partners to address workforce shortages in the healthcare sector.
