About

Auburn Montgomery's School of Accountancy is an AACSB separately accredited accounting program, a distinction held by top business schools. The program provides both undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare the student for entry-level positions in accounting, for graduate studies, and for meeting the education requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examination in Alabama. The education requirements to take the Uniform CPA Examination as an Alabama candidate are higher than the minimum requirements for the B.S.B.A. The additional requirements can be satisfied through undergraduate or graduate accounting courses at AUM. Over 1/3 of accounting enrollments are post baccalaureate students completing their accounting requirements to sit for the CPA exam. The School of Accountancy's successful alumni include partners in CPA firms, officers in State agencies, and CFOs in private industry. Many alumni serve on the AUM Accounting Advisory Board to provide practical insight and feedback for the academic programs. The efforts of faculty attract conferences to campus such as the Financial Accounting and Auditing Conference held each September. The AUM School of Accountancy has an award-winning Accounting Club, a Government Financial Management Student Society and a "superior" rated Beta Alpha Psi chapter. Beta Alpha Psi is the national accounting honor society and is considered a signal of quality for program graduates.
