Alberta Association of Nurses
About
The Alberta Association of Nurses (AAN) is a professional association established in 2022 to represent all nurses in Alberta, Canada. This includes Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), nursing students, and retired nurses. AAN became an Organizational Affiliate of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) on July 1, 2025, which enhances advocacy and professional opportunities for its members. AAN's core mandate is to promote and advocate for the nursing profession in Alberta. It focuses on collective advocacy, member benefits, and professional development. The association provides opportunities for growth and education while fostering connections among nursing professionals through various networking platforms. AAN aims to be an inclusive organization that represents the entire nursing community in Alberta, distinguishing itself from historical predecessors and trade unions.
