Flexrotor is a small tactical unmanned aerial system (UAS) developed by Aerovel Corporation and acquired by Airbus Helicopters in May 2024. This vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 25 kg and is designed for various missions, including Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR). Flexrotor features a flight endurance of 12-14 hours, with a maximum of 33 hours when using external fuel, and can operate in all-weather conditions. The system is capable of autonomous launch and recovery, making it suitable for deployment from land or sea. It can integrate various payloads, including advanced sensors, and is designed for applications such as maritime patrol, environmental monitoring, and law enforcement. Flexrotor is marketed to armed forces, coast guards, and civil operators worldwide, with documented partnerships including the US Army and US Southern Command.
