ECHO CYMH (Child and Youth Mental Health) is a collaborative initiative aimed at improving mental health care for children and adolescents in Ontario. Operating under the ECHO Ontario Mental Health framework, it is fully funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and connects over 30 ECHO programs through partnerships with various healthcare organizations.
The program offers virtual education and capacity building through interactive, case-based learning sessions. These sessions are designed to enhance the skills and confidence of primary care providers and mental health clinicians in managing youth mental health conditions. ECHO CYMH also promotes interprofessional collaboration through communities of practice, allowing participants to share expertise and implement evidence-based practices. In the 2023/24 fiscal year, the initiative reached 3,645 healthcare providers from 1,784 organizations, demonstrating its significant impact on mental health care delivery.
