Madame Laberge s’est fait connaître à titre d’enseignante mais surtout comme infirmière et sage-femme. On retient de la vie d’Anna Laberge son dévouement exceptionnel, sa soif de connaissance et son sens de la justice. Sa détermination et son éveil intellectuel l’ont amenée, tout au long de sa vie, à explorer des domaines alors difficilement accessibles aux femmes. Jusqu’à l’âge de 46 ans elle se dévoue ainsi à soulager les gens, allant même jusqu’à offrir gratuitement ses services aux personnes démunies, incapables de la payer. Anna Laberge est décédée en avril 1982 au foyer de Châteauguay. L’Hôpital Anna–Laberge honore la mémoire d’une femme qui, par une vie empreinte de dévouement, nous rappelle l’importance et le rôle que jouent les services hospitaliers.
