Welcome to the Mainland Nova Scotia Building Trades. Our goal is to enhance the opportunities for our thirteen member unions and the professional tradespersons they represent. The depth of experience represented by our membership is truly impressive and ever increasing. The mandate for the Building Trades is to supply a skilled and productive workforce for our 300 contractors and owners.

The unionized Building Trades includes over 12,000 professional tradespeople, including 3,000 apprentices in Nova Scotia – a significant portion of our working middle class.

Founded in 1964, the Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Association (OIRCA) is a professional group of roofing and sheet metal contractors, product suppliers/manufacturers and building science consultants/engineers.

There is an excellent chance that you are currently sitting under a roof installed by a roofing contractor that is a member of the OIRCA. It is a fact that OIRCA members and their well-trained and highly skilled employees install three out of every four roofs in the ICI sector right across the province of Ontario.

The OIRCA through its Labour Relations Section is also the Employer Bargaining Agent for union roofing contractors in the province.
