The Brain Injury Association of York Region (BIAYR) is a registered charity and non-profit organization focused on supporting individuals affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI) and their caregivers in York Region, Ontario. Established in the mid-1990s by survivors and caregivers, BIAYR offers a range of free programs, advocacy, and educational resources aimed at improving the quality of life for survivors.
Operating across various municipalities, including Aurora, Markham, and Vaughan, BIAYR is volunteer-run and emphasizes community involvement. The organization provides biweekly support groups for survivors and monthly groups for caregivers, along with educational talks on brain injury recovery. Therapeutic activities such as archery, gardening, and yoga are available both in-person and online. BIAYR also hosts community events and leads awareness campaigns during Brain Injury Awareness Month in June. In 2023, it was recognized as the Community Brain Injury Association of the Year by the Ontario Brain Injury Association.
