SimKIDS is a simulation-based training initiative at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. It focuses on enhancing pediatric healthcare education and clinical outcomes through immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Established as part of SickKids’ Simulation Program, SimKIDS supports over 6,800 learners each year, providing extensive training through high-fidelity simulations and innovative methodologies.

The program offers various services, including procedural skills training for neonatal and pediatric emergencies, a clinical extern program for pre-licensure students, and a residency for new graduate nurses transitioning into critical care. SimKIDS also engages in educational outreach, partnering with colleges for student placements and hosting symposiums to connect healthcare simulation practitioners. Additionally, it conducts research to refine clinical processes and integrate new technologies into training. The initiative emphasizes a culture of safety and collaboration, ensuring learners develop the skills needed to improve child health outcomes.
